Campus Administrative Panel: Meeting the Diverse Needs of Servicemembers, Veterans & Military Family Members Enrolled in Online Education

This panel includes the Director of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) and campus service administrators from four colleges and universities. Speakers will discuss services, support service models, performance measurements, and strategies for supporting online student success for Veterans, Servicemembers, and Military Family Members. The panel will also share recommendations and resources for campuses that do not have an Office of Veterans Affairs. The last part of the webinar will be open to questions from attendees.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Providing Adequate Services and Support for Servicemembers That Are Deployed, Including Extended Hours Of Operation
  • Considerations for Limited Access to Additional Course Materials When Servicemembers Are Deployed
  • Recommendations for Advising Students When They Prepare for Deployment or When Enrolling While Deployed
  • Considerations for Temporary Duty (TDY) in Recommendations to Instructors for Developing Assignment Policies
  • Ensuring Early Course Registration so Course Materials (textbooks, etc.) Can Be Ordered and Received Prior to the Start of the Semester/Quarter
  • Models and Strategies for Campuses That Do Not Have an Office of Veterans Affairs
  • Integration of DMAIC (Six Sigma Methodology) and Category of Disclosure Performance Measures
  • Recommendations and Considerations for Online Advising, Counseling, Libraries, Technology Support, Financial Aid, and Other Campus Resources
