The Mobile First project is an initiative to provide a fully online learning environment for MBA students at La Trobe University that will permit them to learn what they want, where they want. This partnership project aims to create the optimal online mobile student experience by utilizing the best available learning tools. As such, course design is built around the functionality of Apple’s iTunes U, the world’s largest repository of education content, and students are provided an iPad in order to allow easy access to the course from anywhere.

Rasmussen College uses a variety of instructional models to provide optimal learning environments for our diverse student population. Online+ is a model used to offer a blended learning experience for students taking some of our online courses. Online+ courses are those in which a live classroom experience is embedded within the structural of the course as a part of the instructional strategies utilized within that online course. Research tells that hybrid courses appeal to learners who want to capitalize on the benefits of real-time instruction, whether residential or virtual, but also need to process information on their own through online instructional elements and assessments.

As the number of online degrees have proliferated in recent years, it is even more important for institutions to take a more thoughtful approach to program selection. Often, a university must consider key issues like course offerings and schedules, degree specialization, and admissions requirements in order to offer a competitive online degree. In this webinar, academic leaders will discuss the key market forces that are present today, and how universities can best position their prospective degrees in the market.

Over the past two years the number of MOOC offerings has quadrupled, even as the quality of the learning experiences they offer remains hotly debated. Institutions and faculty continue to ask themselves whether or not a MOOC derives enough value, especially monetarily, to make the resource investment worth the risk. And for those institutions ready to take the leap, they question how to best design MOOCs to achieve their goals while ensuring the highest quality experience for students.
