The Sloan-C Accessibility Webinar Series 2013 includes four 90-minute webinars. The webinars focus on accessibility, including federal regulations, available resources, invisible disabilities, and effective practices for student and faculty success. Each webinar brings together a panel of administrative leaders, faculty, and students with accessibility expertise from across the United States who will provide individual and collective perspectives to working with students and faculty with disabilities in online education.

Abstract : Are you in the beginning stages of developing an online or blended class? This webinar provides an overview of the OLC New to Online Workshop Series and how you can develop the skills you need to successfully design and deliver your class.
Abstract: “Going Places with Geotechnologies” invites you to explore the world using today’s exciting, web-based mapping tools, to expand spatial and critical thinking for you and your students. Examine historical and current issues from local to global scale, from water quality or historical homes in your own community to global climate, energy, and population change. You will learn how to apply the principles of spatial and critical thinking through the use of web mapping tools to build an exciting learning environment. You will discover how to map and analyze the patterns and relationships from the data that you and your own students collect on trees, graffiti, water quality, birds, weather, events, and much more.
Abstract: OLC Blended and Mobile Learning Mastery Series are back by popular demand for 2014 with the addition of Online Nursing, Online Science Labs and Spatial Thinking and Web Mapping Mastery Series. Each Mastery Series is focused on creating a quality skill-set in the field of study. Successful completion of a Mastery Series culminates in a Recognition of Mastery in a topic. Each series consists of three workshops that help you explore relevant research and use that research to help you design an effective teaching and learning environment.
Abstract: Online discussion can provide students with the opportunity to express ideas, think about course content, apply course concepts to real-world situations, interact with classmates and faculty, and reflect on attitudes or values. However, it can be challenging to create discussion questions that engage students in critical thinking and encourage robust interaction. It is additionally challenging to assess different aspects of online discussion and provide students with meaningful qualitative and quantitative feedback. This webinar will provide strategies and tips for meeting these challenges.

Virtual internships and international partnerships provide high-impact experiential learning opportunities for students while providing means for nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) to build capacity and cultural bridges. This type of program allows non-traditional adult students, in particular, to maintain their family responsibilities and to continue their full time jobs while working on projects overseas in an online capacity.

Instead of simply being mechanisms for individual reflection or announcement, newer features allow open-source blogging systems to become full-fledged virtual communities that enable sophisticated social interaction, collaboration, and peer evaluation.

Attendees will be able to ask questions about each study. Additionally, upcoming research studies for 2014 and 2015 that are seeking campus and organizational collaboration will be highlighted.
