The Year of Accessibility
In 2018, the OLC community rolled up its sleeves to tackle some of digital education’s most persistent challenges to quality, equity and access. Our support for these efforts came in the form of powerful partnership initiatives, new research, expanded member resources, highly engaging conferences and continued development of the next generation of digital education leaders.
Collaborations were a critical endeavor in this “Year of Accessibility,’ a yearlong collaboration with WCET culminating in a survey of our member communities about accessibility on their campuses. We worked on a variety of other collaborative initiatives throughout the year with a number of organizations, including UPCEA, DXtera and the Every Learner Everywhere network. Planning ahead to 2019, OLC and long-standing Innovate conference partner MERLOT, initiated “The Year of Inclusiveness, Diversity, Equity and Advocacy (IDEA)” for 2019.
The Online Learning Consortium (OLC) is a collaborative community of higher education leaders and innovators, dedicated to advancing quality digital teaching and learning experiences designed to reach and engage the modern learner – anyone, anywhere, anytime. OLC inspires innovation and quality through an extensive set of resources, including, best-practice publications, quality benchmarking, leading-edge instruction, community-driven conferences, practitioner-based and empirical research and expert guidance. The growing OLC community includes faculty members, administrators, trainers, instructional designers, and other learning professionals, as well as educational institutions, professional societies and corporate enterprises.
