Brief Abstract

Please join the Strand Chairs as they bring together “the community” of experts and participants to hold an interactive discussion on the main trends and hot topics that are taking root in this strand.


Marti Snyder is an associate professor in the Department of Information Systems and Cybersecurity in the College of Engineering at Nova Southeastern University. Marti teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in learning design and technology, design thinking, project management, and computing privacy and ethics. She also chairs doctoral student dissertations. Marti researches effective designs for teaching and learning in blended, online, mobile, and virtual learning environments; socially conscious design; and issues relating to technology use among older adults. Her work crosses multiple disciplines including education, engineering, information systems, and health professions. Marti has published articles in national and international journals and is an active reviewer for journals and conferences in her field. Her current research focuses on use of remote monitoring technologies by informal caregivers as well as effective instructional designs for blended learning, simulations, and mixed-reality. Lisa R. Halverson recently received her Ph.D. in Instructional Psychology & Technology from Brigham Young University. She researches cognitive and affective engagement in K-16 blended learning courses. Lisa also teaches world civilization courses, drawing upon her master’s degree in History from Stanford University. She taught high school for 10 years, including 1 year for the online Open High School of Utah. She is the mother of two (adoption miracles!) and lives in the beautiful Wasatch Front region of Utah.

Anissa is an associate professor of instructional technology in Kennesaw State University's Bagwell College of Education. She teaches graduate teacher education courses in instructional technology in online and hybrid formats, and supervises doctoral students. For the past several years, she has coordinated the online teaching endorsement at KSU that serves Georgia certified K-12 teachers. She is currently developing a personalized learning certificate program for educators at the graduate level. Her research has focused on innovative learning models including K-12 online learning and massive open online courses. Outside of teaching and research, she serves on various boards and committees related to educational innovation, online learning, and futurist planning at the university, state, and school districts levels.
