Brief Abstract

Have you ever wondered what goes into creating the Technology Test Kitchen?  What kind of work fills the buckets of two nerds that enjoy breaking, poking, and using technology in learning? And what does a kitchen have to do with ANY of this? Join us for an insightful, we hope, look into the inner workings of the 2020 Accelerate Tech Test Kitchen and the chefs that create the delectable learning experiences in it!

 

Presenters

Dorothy Loftin holds a Master's of Science in Educational Information Technology and is an Instructional Design Specialist at Oregon State University, ranked Top 10 in the national by U.S. News & World Report. She has presented at national and international conferences and she trains course developers in an award winning faculty development program recognized by the Online Learning Consortium for Excellence in Faculty Development for online teaching. Dorothy is the lead expert on accessibility at Oregon State University Ecampus.
Romana (Romy) Hughes is the Assistant Provost of Educational Technology and Faculty Development and the Director of the Koehler Center for Instruction, Innovation, and Engagement at Texas Christian University. Her primary duties include oversight of the Koehler Center, managing a robust, multi-faceted professional development program for full-time, adjunct faculty and graduate assistants that support teaching and learning and addresses the changing needs of students, the intersection course design with student-centered learning and to pursue excellence in the use of technology. Romy also works with Department Chair Leadership Training on campus. Romy has twenty-seven years of higher education experience and nineteen years of faculty development experience. Romy has fifteen years of teaching experience in higher education. Romy holds two graduate degrees in Liberal Arts and Professional Development Organizational Communication.
Adam Davi is a Senior Instructional Designer at the University of Arizona who works with faculty to design engaging online courses. Adam has worked in higher education for eight years and has a Master of Science in Educational Technology as well as a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership. He has experience working directly with students as a teacher and learning specialist before transitioning to his role as an Instructional Designer. Adam is passionate about developing innovative courses that foster student success and promote ownership over one’s learning. He loves working in a field that encourages collaboration and creativity.
