MERLOT (www.merlot.org) celebrating its 22nd year as an educational resource for learning and online teaching with the release of a newly designed website, is an international community of over166,000 faculty, staff, students, administrators, librarians, etc in education. All are interested in discovering, using, and sharing Open Educational Resources (OERs) for the improvement of technology-enhanced teaching and learning.
The MERLOT globally-renowned collection of more than 90,000 online learning materials, has been peer- or crowd-source reviewed by members of the community.
MERLOT’s Smart Search facilitates easy discovery of relevant online materials in more than a dozen different digital libraries, and from the World Wide Web. The new MERLOT Content Builder, released in November 2019, allows MERLOT members to create FREE accessible and scalable educational websites such as a web building exercise for students, a teaching e-Portfolio or author online learning activities the day before you assign them to your students? Not creative? Templates and guidelines are provided to do it easily!
MERLOT is free to use, and is sustained through the support of higher education institutions from around the world, led by the California State University. More than 25 editorial boards of discipline-specific subject matter experts develop and curate MERLOT’s collection with quality assurance methods. Many higher education and K-12 institutions, non-profit associations, special interest groups, and corporations have adopted and integrated MERLOT services into their online education initiatives.
