IELOL (2022 Cohort) Informational Webinar

This webinar, co-hosted by Katie Schuster of OLC and Peter van Leusen and Renee Pilbeam of ASU, will highlight the cohort-based professional development program designed for new and experienced leaders in the field of digital and online learning. The session will provide an overview of the program and its faculty, the format of the program’s four phases, time commitment, program objectives, and participant experience will be discussed. Participants will learn about the application process and timeline to prepare a successful application submission. Questions and comments are welcomed.

Speaker Bio

Katie Schuster
Director of Global Events – Online Learning Consortium

Katie Fife Schuster is the Director of Global Events for OLC. In this role, Katie provides direction and leadership for the logistics and planning of OLC symposiums, the IELOL program, and IELOL Global program. Prior to her current role, Katie held the position of Director, Conferences & Events for OLC, where she worked in conjunction with the Senior Director, Conferences & Events, and the Conference Service Manager towards the achievement of OLC’s annual conferences. She has also been OLC’s Director of Online Learning and the Director of Publications. She has experience from her years in the publishing industry prior to joining OLC and holds a BA from Tufts University in anthropology and Spanish.
Peter van Leusen, Ph.D.
Director of Learning Experience & Student Success in EdPlus – Arizona State University

Peter collaborates closely with academic departments and faculty on student success initiatives across diverse modalities and disciplines. His recent projects focused on collaborating on adaptive curriculum and courseware development, designing MOOCs in a foreign language, and spearheading innovative digital educational experiences for broad audiences. Peter is a proud IELOL 2019 graduate! Before joining ASU, Peter worked as the Assistant Director in the Office of Instructional Consulting in the School of Education at Indiana University and previously taught middle and high school German. Peter holds a PhD in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University, Bloomington. His research interests include Faculty Development, Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, and Innovative Teaching & Learning in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.

Renee Pilbeam, Ph.D.
Assistant Director, Professional Development & Training in EdPlus – Arizona State University

Renee (she/her) currently manages the professional development and training efforts to support faculty that are teaching online with ASU Online. This includes workshops and webinars in addition to the flagship Master Class for Teaching Online experience. Her previous roles were in instructional design collaborating with faculty from diverse disciplines to design, develop, and deliver fully online courses and programs. Renee participated in the 2021 IELOL cohort and loved the experience. She holds a doctorate degree from Arizona State University in Educational Technology (2016). Renee also has a vested interest and focus on advancing equity, inclusion, and transformative justice in higher education.
