Leveraging online education, we encourage doctoral students to complete meaningful research in an applied model in order to make a difference in the world.
Extended Abstract
Consider the millions of hours spent in academic study at a typical university. Consider all the energy expended by both students and faculty in completing and grading assignments. Then consider the ultimate destination of all that time and energy… the trash can. What if we were able to refocus that energy by allowing doctoral students to complete meaningful work that makes a difference in the world - especially in places where that expertise and labor is needed the most. By leveraging online education in an applied service-learning model, we encourage doctoral students to complete meaningful research for making a difference.
