Brief Abstract

As the popularity of esports and gaming continues to grow in higher education, where might leaders, researchers, and practitioners in online and digital learning identify points of intersection, connection, and advocacy? Join us to learn more about collegiate esports and its parallels to the challenges, opportunities of online learning.


Dr. Ben Scragg is the Head of Collegiate Esports at eFuse, where he leads the competitive operations teams leading collegiate esports leagues and events. Ben also works to connect esports to learning and career pathways through professional learning with K12 and higher education faculty. Prior to joining eFuse, Ben served as the director of strategic partnerships and grants with the Online Learning Consortium. Ben also has nearly 15 years of experience as a staff member and faculty at The Ohio State University and Arizona State University, in roles ranging from instructional design to grant program management to community partnerships for school redesign. Ben began his career as a K12 educator with Chicago Public Schools, and holds masters degrees in educational psychology and philosophy and business administration from The Ohio State University. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership and innovation from Arizona State University.
