What does a facilitator do at an OLC Collaborate event?
A facilitator is an online learning professional in the Collaborate event region who is registered to attend the Collaborate event and volunteers to lead a group discussion at the event.
The Collaborate event includes three keynote speakers who will offer insightful views of the changing university through short, 30 minute focused presentations on key topics of interest for regional attendees. Presentations will be followed by 45 minute facilitator-led discussions to allow participants to delve into each topic in greater detail. Scribes will be on hand in each facilitator-led discussion, a breakout session, to document discussions throughout the day and share with the event participants at the conclusion of the event.
Each facilitator will select at least one (1) breakout session, based on a topic of interest/expertise, in which he/she will lead discussions. The facilitator will meet with the speaker, a steering committee member, and OLC representative prior to the event to determine a subtopic based on the keynote speaker’s topic, and create the breakout session thesis/question to kick-off discussions.
Facilitator is a volunteer opportunity for OLC members and non-members from the OLC Collaborate region. No compensation is provided. Facilitators will be provided a complimentary 6 month OLC Professional membership for their efforts (new members only).
