A Rigorous Process, Consistently Applied

No matter the level of support you choose, Basic, Standard, or Premier, all OLC Program Reviews follow the same six-step evaluation process. This ensures a consistent and equitable pathway for institutions to engage in strategic reflection, continuous improvement, and potential recognition.

Whether you’re reviewing a fully online program, a blended offering, or your online student support infrastructure, this process is designed to provide actionable insights and guide your institution toward excellence.

Steps in the OLC Program Review Process

All review levels follow the same rigorous structure and provide access to OLC’s expert reviewers.

Step 1: Initial Consultation

OLC meets with your team to define review goals, confirm the scorecard(s) to be used, and clarify roles and responsibilities based on your selected support level.

Step 2: Self-Assessment

Institutions conduct a self-review using their chosen Quality Scorecard(s). This includes rating each objective, submitting a written narrative, and gathering artifacts that demonstrate alignment with quality standards.

Step 3: Peer Review

Three trained OLC reviewers independently evaluate your self-assessment, submitted documentation, and institutional artifacts. Their reviews ensure alignment with best practices and provide expert, objective analysis.

Step 4: Comprehensive Report

OLC provides a detailed report summarizing findings, including program strengths and opportunities for improvement. The report includes preliminary scoring and guidance on areas that may benefit from additional attention.

Step 5: Optional Revisions

Institutions have the opportunity to revise and resubmit materials to strengthen their case before final scoring. This is your chance to address reviewer feedback and make improvements that may impact endorsement eligibility.

Step 6: Final Scoring & Recognition (if earned)

Final scores are determined based on all submitted materials. Institutions that meet the endorsement threshold receive the OLC Exemplary Program endorsement, valid for three years, along with a digital logo for promotional use.

Support Options: What’s the Difference?

While the review steps remain the same, your level of support can significantly impact your team’s workload and timeline. OLC offers three service levels tailored to institutional needs:
