Trends in Digital Learning and OER: Digital tools in the physical Classroom – K-12 teacher adoption of OER, AI, and digital textbooks

|

This is the final webinar in the 2026 Trends in Digital Learning and OER series.

This webinar will dive into the findings from Bay View Analytics 2026 survey of K-12 teachers. This annual survey asks teachers if and how they use digital learning materials, such as textbooks, OER, and A.I. tools, in their classrooms with students. The webinar will present the wide variety of adoption and sentiments on these materials and how they vary by grade level.

Bay View Analytics has tracked the awareness and adoption of OER and digital materials in K-12 since 2017. Supported by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the project has examined the evolving factors driving OER awareness and adoption. Our results feature nationally representative participants across 8 surveys.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify current patterns in the adoption and classroom use of digital instructional materials in K–12 settings
  • Describe K–12 teacher perceptions of digital materials, open educational resources, and AI in their classrooms
  • Evaluate how the use of digital materials may affect student learning and engagement
  • Summarize perspectives from expert panelists on how digital materials are shaping instructional practices, curriculum decisions, and institutional strategies in K–12 education
