Summary of Major Responsibilities:

With a focus on revenue generation and member and community engagement, the Director of Strategic Partnerships will provide leadership in researching, scoping, managing, and evaluating key projects, programs, and customized solutions that are aligned with OLC’s Advisory Services domestically and internationally.  Key to this position is a focus on strategic analysis, creative problem solving, and innovative solutions while having a thorough knowledge and understanding of existing operations and processes in order to drive initiatives to completion through existing or new workflows.  The individual in this position must possess the communication skills to bring others on board with go-forward recommendations and enjoy working as part of a team. 

Required Skills and Abilities:

The successful candidate will have the ability to gain credibility and influence others at all levels within a higher education organization with their knowledge of procedures, operations, organizational structures, and principles of higher education institutions. They possess a versatile professional background and a relentless drive for achieving results with an ability to span boundaries demonstrated by viewing big ideas and even bigger challenges as opportunities.  They will have demonstrated success as a clear, persuasive public speaker with a reputation for producing written reports that are clearly written, data-focused and lead to responsible decision-making.  Understanding of and sensitivity to diversity issues related to effective communication and interaction with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds, age ranges, social backgrounds, experience levels and more is a must.

The work environment calls for an independent, highly organized, and detail-oriented self-starter who is also able to work in a team environment with effective cross-departmental team-building skills.  The Sr. Director of the Institute will exhibit strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify the appropriate analytical processes for addressing particular issues, arrive at supportable recommendations, build consensus, and ensure successful implementation.

The Director of Strategic Partnerships will lead high quality projects/initiatives with senior level stakeholders.  As such, they will need the ability to manage and prioritize across multiple projects, strategic priorities, and issues in a focused and efficient manner while navigating changes to plans as new information is learned and analyzed.  While reviewing potential opportunities for expansion and growth, they will need to have the ability to evaluate the attractiveness of new opportunities with an entrepreneurial, creative, and resourceful mindset and conscious of fiscal foundations.

In a supervisory capacity, the successful candidate will show strong, proactive leadership and management skills with exceptional organizational development, change management, project management, team building, and interpersonal communication skills.  They will need to be a natural leader with excellent verbal and written communications skills and a thoughtful, persuasive personal style.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree is required, doctoral degree preferred.
  • Six or more years of managerial experience in a high-impact, growth, and results oriented higher education position.
  • Four or more years of curriculum design, development, and evaluation experience as a faculty member or administrator with direct evidence of personal contributions.
  • Fluency (written and oral) in Spanish is preferred.   
  • International and/or cross-cultural experience is preferred.
  • Previous consulting experience is preferred.

Reports Directly to the Chief Knowledge Officer.
