Online Learning Consortium Announces New Board Officers for 2025

[Boston, MA] – The Online Learning Consortium (OLC), the leading professional organization supporting online, blended, and digital learning, proudly announces its newly appointed Board officers for the term beginning January 2025.

The new leadership reflects OLC’s continued commitment to advancing excellence in online education, fostering innovation, and supporting a diverse global community of educators, learners, and institutions.

Newly Appointed Officers:

  • Paige McDonald, Ed.D., Board President
    Dr. Paige McDonald is Vice Chair of the Department of Clinical Research and Leadership at George Washington University’s School of Medicine and Health Sciences. She has over 25 years experience designing and teaching online and blended courses in higher education.  She is a learning scholar who focuses on integrating technology into health-professions education, with a focus on blended learning design, and leveraging technology for learning and knowledge translation in healthcare. Within OLC, Dr. McDonald has served as a conference program chair, track chair, reviewer, and guest editor for Online Learning. She has also served on the OLC Board of Directors since 2022, most recently as the Board Vice President.
  • Kaye Shelton, Board Vice President
    Dr. Kaye Shelton is a Professor of Educational Leadership at Lamar University and a recognized expert in online education, with over 25 years of experience as an instructor, consultant, and researcher. She has published extensively, including co-authoring An Administrator’s Guide to Online Education, and has received multiple awards for her contributions, such as the Sloan-C Effective Practice Award and the John R. Bourne Award. She has served on the OLC Board of Directors since 2019, most recently as Board Secretary.
  • Kelvin Thompson, Secretary
    Dr. Kelvin Thompson, who joined the OLC Board of Directors in 2024, serves as Vice Provost for Online Strategy and Teaching Innovation at the University of Louisville. With over 24 years of experience, he has contributed numerous resources to the online learning community, including the Teaching Online Pedagogical Repository and the BlendKit Course. A co-host of the TOPcast: The Teaching Online Podcast and co-editor of the SAGE Handbook of Online Higher Education, Dr. Thompson was named an OLC Fellow in 2020.
  • A. Frank Mayadas, Treasurer
    A. Frank Mayadas, a founding board member of OLC, is a leading innovator in online learning. He previously served as a Senior Advisor to the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and, from 1992 to 2009, played a key role in shaping the Foundation’s grantmaking strategy in online learning as Program Director. Before that, Dr. Mayadas spent 27 years at IBM and holds a Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Cornell University.

These distinguished individuals bring extensive experience in online and digital education, strategic leadership, and institutional growth. Together, they will guide OLC as it continues to support educators, practitioners, and institutions in delivering high-quality digital learning experiences.
