We are excited to invite your institution to participate in a research study titled “Optimizing AI in Higher Education: Student Engagement and Support Strategies” in collaboration with D2L. This study seeks to understand how AI tools are transforming student engagement and educational experiences.

Purpose of the Study

As AI becomes more embedded in higher education, it’s important to explore its effects on students. This research focuses on key areas, including:

  • Student Usage of AI Tools: How students are using generative AI in their academic work and learning activities.
  • Student Perceptions of AI in Education: How students view the role of AI in their educational journeys, including benefits and challenges.
  • Impact on Student Engagement: The effects of AI on emotional, cognitive, and behavioral aspects of student engagement.
  • Supporting Effective AI Use: Developing strategies to help higher education institutions better support students in using AI to enhance their learning.

About the Survey

The survey is designed to gather students’ experiences and insights on AI’s role in their education. It’s completely voluntary and will take around 10-15 minutes to complete. Participants can also opt-in for future stages of the study, contributing to this growing area of research.

By participating, students will help higher education leaders, faculty, and staff understand AI’s impact and shape strategies for effective AI use in academic settings.

We have secured IRB exemption for this study and would be happy to share our exemption letter if desired prior to your distribution of the survey.

How You Can Help

We are reaching out to our community for support in distributing the survey to students starting the week of September 23rd. Your help will be invaluable in gathering diverse student perspectives from across the higher education landscape. The survey will close on Friday, October 11th.
