Thank you to our partner:

OLC Ideate Labs for Online STEM Discovery Salons Threadbox:

CONTRIBUTE YOUR OWN STORY VIA THE COMMUNITY STORYTELLING FORUM

Are you a STEM educator who has experience using virtual Labs in the online or digital modality? Are you a technology partner who intentionally considers learning outcomes as you design? Have you experienced barriers to lab implementation in the last few months or are you expecting any as we prepare for fall? Share your story at the OLC Ideate Labs for Online STEM event. Whether it be a successful use-case scenario, a narrative based in failure, a provocation about where we need to head next as a community, or tips, tricks, and guidance, we look forward to you joining the dialogue.

OLC Ideate Labs for Online STEM Community Stories Threadbox:

Follow these instructions to share your own story in the Community Storytelling Forum:

  • Click “+Add your own” in the top right hand corner
  • Either login to VoiceThread or signup for a free account
  • Choose “Create a new VoiceThread”
  • Choose a file to serve as the main “page” for your VoiceThread story (this can be a picture, a syllabus, a PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Give your VoiceThread story a title and a short description
  • Click “Create”
  • Once your VoiceThread story appears in the “Threadbox” (e.g. the OLC Ideate Community Storytelling Forum) click back on your VoiceThread story to add text-based, audio, or even video comments, in addition to other pages within your story.
  • You can review this sample for more detailed instructions once you are ready to add comments to your story
  • As you contribute stories, we’d encourage you to also add captions for your own contributions. Captions are a necessary accessibility feature. To learn more about accessibility in K-12 and Higher Education check out this free resource. Follow these instructions to request captions:
    • Start playing a comment they’ve recorded
    • Click on the “CC” button inside that comment
    • Click on the green “Order” button
    • The above steps will initiate a caption request, and captions will appear four days later
