Last week U.S. News & World Report released the annual ranking of Best Online Colleges of 2017. The Online Learning Consortium is pleased to announce that three OLC board members are associated with programs listed in the annual rankings.
Dr. Peter Shea, current OLC board member and editor-in-chief of Online Learning, is Associate Provost and Associate Professor in the department of Education and Theory Practice in the University of Albany School of Education which was ranked 6th for online graduate education programs. As noted in the university’s press release, the ranking places the program first in New Year and the entire northeast. Shea notes, “These programs reflect the quality metrics that OLC has long advocated; it is gratifying to see our collective efforts recognized nationally.”
Dr.Elizabeth Ciabocchi, current OLC board member, is Vice Provost for Digital Learning/Executive Director of Online Learning & Services at St. John’s University which was ranked 22nd for Best Online Graduate Education and 32 for Best Online Graduate Business (non-MBA) in the 2017 rankings. In the university’s press release, Ciabocchi credits the faculty, administrators and staff who are involved in these programs.
Dr. Robert Ubell, former OLC board member, is Vice Dean of Online Learning at New York University Tandon School of Engineering which was ranked 3rd for Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs in US. As noted in the university’s press release, the ranking places the program first in the northeast. The entire online graduate program in engineering was ranked 11th in the nation. The New York University Tandon School of Engineering was the 2015 recipient of the Ralph E. Gomory Award for Quality Online Education and Dr. Ubell is a former recipient of OLC’s A. Frank Mayadas Leadership in Online Learning award.
