In this month’s Facilitator Spotlight, we’re proud to feature Dr. Georgianna Laws, an online higher education leadership practitioner, researcher, and educator with over two decades of global experience. Her work sits at the intersection of leadership, online education, and learning systems, advancing quality, alignment, and innovation in digital learning environments.
She holds a doctorate in higher education leadership, with research focused on how Chief Online Education Officers in the United States influence the quality of online program administration. She is an alumna of the 2020 Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning (IELOL) and holds multiple certifications from the Online Learning Consortium, including the Instructional Design Professional (IDP).
At the Online Learning Consortium’s Center for Professional Learning (CPL), Georgianna develops and facilitates courses that support institutional leaders, faculty, instructional designers, and corporate partners. Her work emphasizes practical, experiential, and systems-based approaches informed by theory.
In addition to her CPL work, Dr. Laws teaches in the Texas Lutheran University interdisciplinary leadership doctoral program and consults with institutions on the design, operation, and continuous improvement of online and hybrid programs. She remains engaged in the OLC community through teaching, research, and service.
Her favorite workshops to have participated in and/or facilitate for OLC include:
- Online Program Administration Mastery Series—As a learner for this OLC workshop program, Geo states, “I earned this mastery from OLC in 2017 under Dr. Kaye Shelton and later used the Quality Scorecard as the research instrument for my doctoral work, as well as in the administration of the online programs I’ve led”.
- Leadership series and certificate programs—Facilitating workshops focused on leadership allows geo to draw on her doctorate in higher education leadership, years of leadership experience, including building and operating a college of online education and leading coaching and consulting work, as well as her role teaching and chairing in a fully online interdisciplinary doctoral program.
- Advanced certificate programs—Geo enjoys facilitating these as they allow her to lean on over two decades of teaching and designing across multiple continents.
