IELOL (2024 Cohort) Informational Webinar

This webinar, co-hosted by Dylan Barth and Katie Schuster of OLC and J. Garvey Pyke and Lynn Wahl of UNC Charlotte, will highlight the cohort-based professional development program designed for new and experienced leaders in the field of digital and online learning. The session will provide an overview of the program and its faculty, the format of the program’s four phases, time commitment, program objectives, and participant experience will be discussed. Participants will learn about the application process and timeline to prepare a successful application submission. Questions and comments are welcomed.

Dylan Barth
Dylan Barth, Ph.D

Assistant Vice President of Learning – Online Learning Consortium

Dylan Barth is the Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Learning and a Co-Director of the Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning (IELOL). Dylan provides strategic vision and oversight for professional development, research and publications, and the Quality Scorecard Suite at OLC. He has 20+ years of experience teaching in higher education and 12+ years working in faculty and instructional development. Dylan holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with an emphasis on masculinities in contemporary post-apocalyptic fiction.
Katie Schuster

Director of Global Events – Online Learning Consortium

Katie Fife Schuster is the Director of Global Events for OLC. In this role, Katie provides direction and leadership for the logistics and planning of OLC symposiums, the IELOL program, and IELOL Global program. Prior to her current role, Katie held the position of Director, Conferences & Events for OLC, where she worked in conjunction with the Senior Director, Conferences & Events, and the Conferences Service Manager towards the achievement of OLC’s annual conferences. She has also been OLC’s Director of Online Learning and the Director of Publications. She has experience from her years in the publishing industry prior to joining OLC and holds a BA from Tufts University in anthropology and Spanish.
 

J. Garvey Pyke, Ed.D.

Executive Director, Center for Teaching and Learning – UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies

J. Garvey Pyke leads the Center for Teaching and Learning in fueling the enrollment growth at the university through online course development, creating high-impact student success programs using personalized and adaptive learning, promoting faculty success and scholarly teaching through innovative faculty development programs, and overseeing the provision and support of enterprise academic technologies, with a focus on high-quality instruction in all teaching modes and models. An alumnus of the 2010 OLC Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning (IELOL), Garvey has stayed active in the IELOL network. He has attended every IELOL Master Class at Accelerate, assisting Larry Ragan with the design and facilitation of the Master Class in the years 2014 to 2017. Garvey served as co-director of IELOL in 2018 and has been serving on IELOL faculty since 2019 to the present.


Lynn Wahl

Director of Course Production, Center for Teaching and Learning – UNC Charlotte School of Professional Studies

Lynn leads the Course Production Team in the Center for Teaching and Learning for the School of Professional Studies. The Course Production Team, a team of six instructional designers and four media specialists, increases online student enrollment and student success through the development of 60+ high-quality online, blended, and live online courses a year. Lynn has led initiatives around online learning and course development including faculty training, process design and development, accessibility, diversity, equity, and inclusion, community building for faculty, and instructional designer workload. Lynn Wahl is a 2021 IELOL alumna, frequent contributor to both the Online Learning Consortium’s (OLC) Accelerate and Innovate conferences, recent reviewer for OLC Innovate 2022, an upcoming Steering Committee member for Accelerate 2022, and is a two-time OLC Best-in-Track Award winner for both the professional development and instructional design tracks.
